HSI reflects the blended learning approach, facilitating modular training in a variety of delivery modes. Initial efforts are being made to impact trainees in the emergency response disciplines.
Standardized training is also being introduced at other state training nodes such as the Washington State Patrol Academy, the Fire Training Academy, and the Criminal Justice Training Center. Working through local jurisdictions and professional associations, HSI is reaching out to many entry-level professionals as they learn basic skills associated with their discipline in their first months on the job.
HSI is providing State and ODP-approved homeland security awareness-level courses via the HSI website. These courses have the potential for reaching many of the 200,000+ emergency responders who are already on the job in the State. HSI considers this to be a potent avenue for future delivery of awareness courses to the general public.
